Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Dauphin Lake Watch, operated by iConnect Studio ("we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and protects information from users of dauphinlakewatch.ca.
1. Information We Collect
When you subscribe to alerts, we collect:
- Email address (if provided)
- Mobile phone number (if provided)
- Name (optional)
- Date and time of subscription
We do not collect any other personal information. We do not use cookies for tracking or analytics.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your contact information is used exclusively to send you flood alert notifications when Dauphin Lake crosses defined water level thresholds. Specifically:
- Email addresses receive threshold-crossing alert emails and a welcome confirmation
- Phone numbers receive threshold-crossing SMS alert messages
We do not use your information for marketing, advertising, or any purpose other than flood alerts.
3. Message Frequency
Message frequency varies based on lake conditions. During active spring melt, you may receive multiple alerts as the lake crosses different thresholds. During normal conditions, you may receive no messages for weeks or months. We send one notification per threshold crossing direction — we do not send repeated messages for the same condition.
4. Sharing of Information
We do not sell, share, or transfer your personal information to third parties, except as necessary to deliver messages:
- Email delivery via Resend (resend.com)
- SMS delivery via ClickSend (clicksend.com)
These services receive only the contact information necessary to deliver your alert.
5. Data Storage
Subscriber information is stored securely via Netlify Blobs infrastructure. We retain your information until you unsubscribe.
6. Unsubscribing
You may unsubscribe at any time by:
- Replying STOP to any SMS alert
- Replying "unsubscribe" to any alert email
- Contacting us at lisa@iconnect.studio
Upon unsubscribing, your contact information will be removed from our system.
7. Data Sources
Water level data displayed on this dashboard is sourced from Water Survey of Canada, Environment and Climate Change Canada. This data is provisional and publicly available. We do not collect or store any of this government data — it is fetched in real time directly from public APIs.
8. Children's Privacy
This service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
